Al-Jihad in West Bengal

burdwan-blastThe National Investigating Agency has found some startling details in its investigations into the Burdwan blasts. The entire operation was planned and was to be executed by a group known as the Al-Jihad which is a lethal combination of the Al-Qaeda and the Students Islamic Movement of India. They proposed to carry out at least 10 attacks in Kolkata and target the mammoth gathering during the Durga Puja in a bid to start establishing the Al-Qaeda unit in India in a big manner an NIA officer probing the case informed.
The material that was found on these members led to the NIA finding enough evidence to suggest that this was an operation undertaken by Al-Jihad. Several documents were found on the spot which included instructions on preparation of bombs. However the most incriminating of them was two pieces of paper which mentions the name of the organisation-Al Jihad. The other was a paper which speaks about the cause of Afghanistan and Gaza. Further the NIA has also found clips and letters which contain the Al-Qaeda’s message by Ayman Al Zawahiri which made a call to set up operations in India.

NIA to file cases against Al-Qaeda, ISIS

In a bid to issue a red corner alert against one of India’s most dangerous recruiters, Sultan Ahmed Armar, the National Investigation Agency has decided to file cases against both the Al-Qaeda and the ISIS. The NIA has made a request to the Home Ministry seeking a consent to go ahead and file cases against the likes of Armar as this becomes mandatory in order to seek an extradition.

The NIA decided to file cases against the Al-Qaeda and the ISIS as most of the operatives running their shop in India are based out of the country. The name of Armar in particular has cropped up several times during the probe. They found his name cropping up in the case of Haja Fakrruddin, the recruitment of the youth from Rajasthan, Hyderabad and also Kalyan.

Al Qaeda’s final jihad

Ghazwa-e-Hindi or the destruction of India was a call made by the Al-Qaeda and now with the dreaded outfit announcing its India wing, the message they managed to send out is that the time has come to launch a final jihad against India. What this essentially would also mean is that the Al-Qaeda and the ISIS which are fighting for supremacy in Iraq and Syria would now do the same in India as well thus making a mess out of the security situation out here.
An Intelligence report on the Al-Qaeda’s operations in India prepared in the early part of August suggests that the outfit has 23 modules in the country and there are around 130 youth who are actively part of these modules. These modules could be found in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Howefver the Al-Qaeda would first launch its India offensive from the Kashmir Valley. There has been enough slogan shouting by the Al-Qaeda which while calling for final Jihad or Ghazwa-e-Hindi also questions the Indian Muslim youth as to why they are quiet and there is no storm in their ocean.
The Al-Qaeda coming in a big way to India also poses another major headahce. The two home grown terror outfits, the Indian Mujahideen and the radical SIMI will fight each other for more turf. The IM has been supporting the ISIS off late while the SIMI has shown signs of cozying up to the Al-Qaeda assuring them of major recruitment drives in India. The ISIS has already made a lot of ground in India and has called for a Global Islamic Council which would have India as part of it. The report states that this essentiallly would mean that the ISIS and the Al-Qaada which are at logger heads in Iraq and Syria would now fight for dominance in India.

ISIS and the Indian agenda

The caliphate has been restored and Abu-Bakr-al Bhagdadi has declared himself as the caliph. While analysts burn the mid night oil trying to figure the ramifications of such a move, the fact remains that the ISIS is aiming big. On the agenda of the worlds most brutal terrorist force is the creation of the Islamic World Dominion of which India is a part off.
North West India is what the ISIS is aiming at and in its map it wants to include the following nations as well- Syria, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Cyprus and Turkey.

This decision to include India has not gone down too well with the Indian Muslims. They are up in arms against the ISIS and say that by declaring their leader as the caliph they have made a mockery out of Islam. A maulana who did not wish to be named for this article says that at the Mosque last Friday there a complete denouncement of the ISIS. India a country which has a majority Sunni population feels that this sort of propagation of Islam is not correct. At the mosque the Maulvi said that the ISIS does not carry the legal tenats of Islam. Islam is a religion of peace, love and brotherhood. What the ISIS is waging is not a holy war, but a full fledged bloody war. They target children and women and this is all anti Islam. Moreover during the holy month of Ramazan there shall be no war or fighting. However the ISIS shows no signs of stopping, the Maulvi at a mosque further told the people gathered there.

In Iraq torn between safety and responsibility

nursesWhile on one hand several nurses stranded in the war torn Iraq are desperate to get back home, there are others who want to stay back and shift to safer places. Take the cases of Mary and Priyamol who face a difficult choice as they need to continue working in order to clear the loan that they had taken in the first place to reach Iraq.
With loans of 1.5 lakh taken from a private money lender at an interest rate of 16 per cent, their situation is like choosing between the devil and the deep sea. While on one hand their parents in Kerala fear for their safety on the other hand there is a practical issue on hand and that is to fend for the family and also clear the loans.

De-coding the Karachi attack

karachiHafiz Saeed was quick to blame the Narendra Modi government of orchestrating the horrific Karachi carnage. First and foremost we must understand that this falls under the category of a “spectacular attack,” which requires immense planning. Saeed the man who is the head of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba which carried out the 26/11 attack must know well that attacks of such a nature require at least 5 years of planning. The Narendra Modi government is just a month old.
There is everything to show that there is no India angle to this attack. The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for this attack. Normally terrorist groups like to be associated with big attacks for the publicity, but in this case it is very evident that the TTP was not just looking at publicity, but conveyed a very strong message to both Pakistan and the Western forces.
